The Lunch Hour Workshop Series 2009 Season Free lunch hour workshops will be presented by leading composers and musicologists to give a greater insight into one of the works on each subscription program. Each workshop commences at 1.10pm in Sir John Clancy Auditorium UNSW. All welcome, bookings not required. Workshop One - Thursday March 12, 1.10pm Joseph HAYDN (1732-1809): String Quartet Opus 77 No 1 Hob.III:81 (1799) - 200th anniversary of the composer’s death Presenter To Be Confirmed Workshop Two - Thursday April 2, 1.10pm Antonín DVOŘÁK (1841-1904): String Quintet (American) in E flat for two violins, two violas and cello Opus 97 (1893) Presented by Emeritus Professor Roger Covell AM BA(Qld), PhD(UNSW) Workshop Three - Thursday May 14, 1.10pm Felix MENDELSSOHN (1809-1847): Piano Quartet in B minor Opus 3 (1825) – 200th anniversary of the composer’s birth Presenter To Be Confirmed Workshop Four - August 13, 1.10pm Gabriel FAURÉ (1845-1924): Piano Quartet No 2 in G minor Opus 45 (1886) Presented by Emeritus Professor Roger Covell AM BA(Qld), PhD(UNSW) Workshop Six - Thursday October 20, 1.10pm Paul STANHOPE (b 1969): New commissioned work (2009) for flute, clarinet, violin, viola, cello and piano – first performance Presented by Paul Stanhope, Composer. |
